Angelique D. Diaz, Ph.D.
Angelique Diaz was born and raised in Denver, CO. Angelique received her B.S. in Chemical Engineering and Petroleum Refining in 1998 from the Colorado School of Mines (CSM), in Golden, CO. She then worked for three years at ExxonMobil’s Baytown, TX refinery where she was both an Air Compliance Engineer and a Process Engineer. Angelique returned to CSM for graduate school where she earned her M.S. and Ph.D. in Environmental Science and Engineering. Angelique’s dissertation is entitled, “Biogeochemical Cycling of Plutonium: Effect of Organic Matter, Microbial Activity, and Time.” Angelique currently works for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency as an Environmental Engineer, where she works on a variety of radiological activities.
Angelique has been a member of SHPE for a number of years and was the advisor for the CSM SHPE student chapter from 2007-2008. She believes strongly in SHPE’s vision “…to enhance and achieve the potential of Hispanics in engineering, math and science,” and has been involved in a variety of outreach activities over the years, aimed at encouraging students to study STEM areas. Angelique understands that the key to a
successful organization is maintaining the organization’s finances.
