VP of Recruitment

Valerie Avila was born and raised in San Antonio, TX and received my Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University in Boston, MA. Today, I am a Captain in the Air Force stationed at Lockheed Martin working for the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) whose mission is to provide Contract Administration Services to the Department of Defense and its partners to ensure delivery of quality products and services to the warfighter; on time and on cost.

I became involved with SHPE because I just moved to Denver and thought it would be a great way to meet people and participate in community service. I have been a member since my arrival in May. My goals as the Vice President of Recruitment is to get to know our members and their wants/needs; collaborate with student chapters and encourage them to become professional members after graduation; and most importantly participate in community service events.
